HISTORY OF CENTRAL COAST SPORTS COUNCIL INCORPORATED
Sports Council was established in 1956 as a committee of Gosford Shire Council. The committee was formed to assist Council with the identification of maintenance issues on playing fields, parks and other recreational areas, new facilities, equipment and allocation of grounds.
The Manager of Open Space and Recreation attended the meetings and kept the sporting community updated on all things happening with the recreation area.
Membership of the Sports Council was and is still available to all sporting codes and recreational grounds.
On 1 January 1980, Gosford Shire became a City and Sports Council changed its name to Gosford City Sports Council.
In the mid to late 1980’s Gosford City Council dropped a number of organisations from their committee’s list. Sports Council was one committee that was dropped off Council’s list. Council continued the attendance of a member of staff to Sports Council meeting.
On 21 May 2005, Gosford City Sports Council Incorporated under the NSW Association Incorporation Act. The Constitution was amended on 1 June 2006 and again on 7 August 2008.
Following the amalgamation of both Gosford City Council and Wyong Shire Council on 16 May 2016, Sports Council amended its constitution to Central Coast Sports Council Incorporated with effect from19 June 2017.
After the amalgamations of the two Councils, the Administrator stopped all Council staff from attending any outside body that was not required under NSW State Legislation. Sports Council was a number of organisations that was affected.
Over the years the role of Sports Council expanded in assisting Council:-

With letters of supports for grants,

Helping with the establishment for Plans of Management for sporting facilities,

Conducting Seminars – Sport and the Law, Sun Smart, Use of Crown Lands etc.

Inspecting with Council staff sports grounds and prioritising the maintenance of the grounds.

Recommending to Council funding under the Recreation Assistance Program Grant

Recommending to Council allocation of grounds for winter and summer competitions.
